An Important Pivot

Outdoors for All

For the last 12 weeks, CHMGS has focused on strategies to support public agencies in light of COVID-19.

This week it seemed appropriate to pivot and share some insight we have gained on how the Outdoor Recreation community can improve its understanding of the appreciation all Americans have for the outdoors.

As part of CHMGS’s involvement with the Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals, (SORP) our awareness of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) has increased. During this learning journey, we were provided by Parker McMullen Bushman a listing of organizations doing work related to JEDI in the outdoors. CHMGS chose to build upon this list and is sharing it with you now in the PDF link below . We believe some other great resources are two of SORP’s most recent webinars including “Unequal Access to Outdoor Recreation- Effects from COVID-19” and a “New Table”.

The Instagram post from WeGotNext highlights the importance of reposting messages and stories from other communities. Consider this blog a very small effort to expand awareness of the importance of the outdoors for all.
